Leading Irish retailer urgently seeking a Head of Buying for their Dublin office. The candidate will be responsible for the Buying function and reporting directly to the CEO while managing over 5 Category managers and buyers. Negotiating terms and conditions, sourcing new products and brands, driving sales and increasing margins are the primary functions of this role.

Responsibilites

Lead trading team in sourcing new brands and suppliers. Identify suppliers whom meet internal standards of qualify and cost. Negotiate wit suppliers to secure LTA's for lowest possible cost and quality supply of product.

Implement range planning approach across the buying team to include planning ,building and product development. Responsible for creative approach to presenting the range to store management teams.

Management of buying team, consisting of buying and category managers, assistant buyers and buying administrators. Lead coaching and developing of this function, annual performance reviews and training.

Work closely with internal stakeholders such as marketing, merchandising, Operations and logistics and visual merchandising. building strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders is of paramount importance in this role.

Analyse sales and commercial feedback reports regarding best selling products store sales performance reports, trends and category reports. Maximizing profitability of product lines and minimising investment in stock levels is a high priority for this company.

Monitoring trends in consumer buying, patterns and preferences in order to identify new products.

Develop a competitive buying strategy for the company which targets there customer age range in line with current market trends ahead of competitors in the market.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years buying experience in a Sport/fashion area.

At least 3 years experience in people management (management of a buying team a distinct advantage).

Strong commercial acumen to deal with commercial issues facing the company and using this knowledge to improve results and display a passion for creative idea's.

Highly organised character with strong planning skills, ability to meet tight deadlines under time constraints and using a calculated commercial understanding to provide solutions to challenging situations.

Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

Experience of delivering financial and strategic range presentations to different internal stakeholders.

Large multi-site retail experience.

Third level qualification in Business or Buying.

Experience with branding.
