Homeware Buyer

Our client a leading Irish retailer is looking to recruit a Homeware Buyer for their head office based in Dublin

The Buyers are responsible for creating an exciting and timely product assortment that meets or exceeds the sales volume and profits for their departments. They are to execute the vision of the Company while servicing the customer. They intuitively respond to customer feedback, market trends and develop action plans that drive category specific growth and increased profitability. They are responsible for the success of their business unit. The Buyers are expected to use their intuition to direct the assortment of their category. They are expected to understand the store profile by product category and tailor their assortments to optimize regional and demographic differences.

Job Skills of the Homeware Buyer:

  • An understanding of the customer's wants and needs and the ability to identify the appropriate product/trend that will appeal to the customer and meet their expectations in the Home buying Department
  • An understanding for the customer and the shopping experience and that it is the final category edit for the merchandising assortment in the Home Department
  • The ability to conceptually plan assortments that meet financial objectives in the Home buying Department
  • The ability to creatively develop product that addresses identified trends in the Home buying Department
  • The ability to delegate and direct the daily activities of the assistant buyers and provide direction to the team in the Home buying Department.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and the ability to balance the immediate and long term needs of the business in the Home buying Department.
  • The ability to lead, develop and coach people and the recognition that building a team is critical to the Company's success in the Home buying Departments.
  • The ability to comprehend financial indicators and manipulate data to reach financially sound decisions in the Home buying Department.
  • The ability to collect, assimilate, analyze, package and present information to the Head of department and the operations team in a way that permits them to make an informed decision and take measurable action in the Home buying Department.
